Grand Theft Auto, released for the Game Boy Color, is a handheld adaptation of the critically acclaimed open-world crime game. While not as expansive as its console counterparts, the Game Boy Color version maintained the series' signature top-down perspective and elements of carjacking, theft, and completing missions. Developed by DMA Design (later Rockstar North) and published by Rockstar Games, the title brought a degree of mature-themed gameplay to the handheld platform, even if in a more simplified form compared to later iterations of the franchise.
